There were more than 2,100 nominations in this year’s Nebraska Beef Council’s Best Burger Contest. Nebraska Beef Council’s Director of Marketing Adam Wegner says nominations were taken during the month of March and the five finalists in this year’s competition are:
Dinker’s Bar (Haystack Burger) – Omaha
Greta’s Gourmet (Greta Burger) – Lincoln
Peppermill & E.K. Valentine Lounge (Joseph Angus Burger) – Valentine
Tommy Colina’s Kitchen (Triple “B” Burger) – Omaha and
Union Bar (Diet Burger) – Gering.
Wegner says this year’s Consumer’s Choice award goes to The Cellar in Kearney. They received the most votes on-line but they won Nebraska’s Best Burger contest in 2011 and are not eligible for the award again.
A panel of judges will visit each restaurant and try the burgers nominated. The best burger will be announced at the end of April and the winner will be recognized by the beef industry as part of Nebraska Beef Month in May.
