The grand unveiling of Nebraska City’s public art project is set for this weekend.
It’s called An Enchanted Arboretum and it features tree-inspired sculptures.
Rose Ralstin, with Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce, says there will be 72 trees on display.
“Forty-seven of them were done by students here in the community and the remaining trees were done by professional artists,” Ralstin says. “The professional artists’ trees are six feet tall and they are going to remain in public spaces here in Nebraska City.”
Ralstin says the trees will be subject of an auction in October to offset the costs of the project.
“It is quite expensive to purchase all of these stylized trees and the product and the paint and the maintenance and care of them,” she says.
The grand unveiling is set for 1 PM on Saturday at the Otoe County Courthouse.
