There are muddy fields in Nebraska due to recent rains but the U-S Drought Monitor at the University of Nebraska still shows the entire state in drought conditions that range from moderate to exceptional.
U-S Department of Agriculture Brad Rippey says nationwide, 40% of intended corn planting areas remains in some form of drought. That is down from 51% two weeks ago and from 89% a year ago.
One-third of intended soybean acres remain in drought. That is down from 43% from two weeks ago and 88% from last year.
Hay and cattle in drought conditions dropped three points this past week.
