Officials say it may be several weeks, or months, before we’ll know the cause of a deadly weekend plane crash in northeast Nebraska.
The small, private plane clipped a power line shortly after taking off from the Norfolk Regional Airport on Saturday night about 8 o’clock.
The four-seat Piper Cherokee crashed in a soybean field about two miles from the airport and came to rest in some trees.
Two people were onboard and both were killed. They’re identified as 26-year-old pilot Dale Butler of Omaha and 24-year-old Amy Brobst of Fort Collins, Colorado.
They’d flown to Norfolk for dinner and were flying home, headed for the Millard North Airport near Omaha.
Investigators with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are looking into the crash.
