Bail is set at $5,000 for former Omaha Police Officer James Kinsella. He is charged with felony tampering with evidence and two misdemeanors after a violent arrest of three men last March at 33rd and Seward Streets in Omaha. Kinsella made his first court appearance Tuesday after turning himself in earlier that morning.
Kinsella is accused of taking a cell phone memory card from one of the suspects who recorded the arrest and then throwing it away.
Former Sgt. Aaron Von Behren was also in court Tuesday. He is charged with two misdemeanors and released on his on recognizance.
