Omaha’s next mayor is Jean Stothert.
Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle conceded the election to Stothert around 9 o’clock Tuesday during Omaha’s general election.
Stothert made it look easy. She won a commanding 57% of the vote, nearly 48,000 votes. Suttle drew slightly more than 35,000 votes, 42% of the votes cast.
Suttle, a Democrat, stated that he would meet with Stothert later this week to start the transition of him leaving and her entering the office. He stated he wants to make it a smooth transition.
Suttle stated he is very proud of his accomplishments during his four years in office.
Stothert, a Republican city councilmember, is Omaha’s first female mayor.
