Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer announced today that a task force has been formed that is investigating last week’s double homicide of Roger and Mary Brumback at 114th and Shirley Streets.
The task force is made up of dozens of Omaha Police Detectives and the FBI. They started efforts a few days ago and will continue to work 7-days a week until the case is solved. Chief Schamderer also stated the Nebraska State Patrol and the Douglas County Attorneys Office offered their full resources and support in regards to the investigation.
One detail of the task force will be to investigate if the Brumback murders and the 2008 cold case murders of 11 year old Thomas Hunter and family housekeeper Shirlee Sherman are connected. Chief Schmaderer stated the connection they do know of is Hunter’s father and Roger Brumback both worked in the pathology department at Creighton University.
Chief Schmaderer states that public safety is their number one concern. They have also met with officials at Creighton University but he would not release details of that conversation.
