The rains this week did help to lower drought coverage for several areas of the country. The latest U-S Drought Monitor shows that all of Nebraska remains in some form of drought.
Six-percent of the state is in the D4 category or exceptional drought conditions. The majority of the state is listed in severe and extreme drought. There are several small areas in eastern and southeastern Nebraska listed as abnormally dry.
Overall, drought is still impacting 46% of the nation with areas increasing in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma.
