The University of Nebraska Medical Center annual Children’s Panhandle Dental Day is expected to serve 200 needy children in four communities in western Nebraska Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st.
Volunteers at dental offices in Sidney, Alliance, Chadron and Gordon will provide space and support the faculty and students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry who will provide dental care that includes pulpectomies, cleanings, sealants and fillings as well as oral hygiene education. The Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance is also providing surgical space for those cases needing hospital support.
Services were based on need and all the children receiving care were pre-screened for the event. This is a yearly event for the College of Dentistry. They also hold a similar event in Lincoln every year during the month of February.
