Nebraska’s unemployment rate nudged up a bit last month.
The Nebraska Department of Labor reports the preliminary unemployment rate for May settled at 3.8%, .1% higher than the rate in April. The May unemployment rate this year is down .2% from May of last year.
Non-farm employment has risen by 14,322 jobs since April. The largest employment gains came in three categories: Leisure and Hospitality, Professional and Business Services and Trade, and Transportation and Utilities.
The state unemployment remains well below the national rate of 7.6%.
The unemployment rate in Omaha was 4.1%. In Lincoln, the unemployment rate was 3.5% last month.
