Former Husker wrestler, Burroughs, wins U.S. World Team Trials

June 24, 2013 By Bill Pollock

Former Nebraska wrestler and Olympic gold medalist Jordan Burroughs beat four-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake 7-0, 8-6 in the U.S. World Team Trials this past weekend. Burroughs improved to 55-0 on the senior level and advances to the FILA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in September.

Burroughs opened with a 7-0 technical fall in the first match. In the next match, Drake pushed Burroughs to overtime, but Burroughs scored two points on a scramble to clinch the win.

Burroughs won the world title in 2011 before taking gold at the London Games.
