A disappointing finish for Team USA men’s basketball at the World University Games in Kazan, Russia. After losing 93-84 to Australia on Thursday and then needing a win against undefeated Canada today, to move out of pool play, the U.S. lost to the Canadians 94-85. Creighton forward Doug McDermott finished this final game with 17 points and nine rebounds. In the loss to the Aussie’s, McDermott had a team-high 22 points in a 93-84 loss.
The U.S. women beat Sweden 103-72 in the quarterfinals today. Nebraska’s Jordan Hooper played just nine minutes and had two points and two rebounds. They will play the winner of Canada and Australia in the semifinals.
