Kenny Perry, who was lurking at the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday, shot a 7-under-par 63, matching the week’s low round and one off the championship record , for a five stroke victory over Fred Funk at the U.S. Senior Open Golf Championship at Omaha Country Club.
His 10-stroke comeback over the final 36 holes is the greatest in Senior Open history.
Perry won the Senior Players Championship two week ago and is now just the third golfer in Champions Tour history to win the Senior Players and U.S. Senior Open in the same year, joining Gary Player (1987) and Orville Moody (1989).
Michael Allen who jumped out to a big lead after Friday, and held a two-shot lead going into the final round, shot another 72 to finish fifth as -6. Corey Pavin and Rocco Mediate were tied for third at -7.
