For the first time in many months and possibly years, members of Creighton University’s Pathology Department rested well last night.
A suspect was arrested in the double homicide of Dr. Roger Brumback and his wife Mary on May 14th of this year and a double murder in March of 2008 where 11 year old Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman were murdered in Dundee. The link – Dr. Brumback and Thomas Hunter’s father, Dr. William Hunter worked at Creighton University in the pathology department.
Dr. Poonam Sharma is the Interim Chair of Creighton’s Pathology Department and says the arrest brings a sigh of relief. Dr. Sharma says the arrest brings closure to department, families and the community.
40 year old Dr. Anthony Garcia was arrested Monday in Illinois. Police say he was a resident at Creighton back in 2000 but that was terminated after 11 months when he was said to display erratic behavior. Dr.’s Hunter and Brumback were the ones who terminated Garcia.
An investigative task force is still at work securing their case against Garcia.
