Saltdogs fall at home

July 25, 2013 By Tim Fisher

Luis Munoz stymied the Saltdogs (34-30) for seven innings, as the Trois-Rivieres Aigles (28-33) downed Lincoln 3-1 in front of 3,763 fans at Haymarket Park Wednesday night.

Munoz (2-1) pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three and walking one to earn the win.

The Aigles opened the game’s scoring with a run in the fifth, added an unearned tally in the seventh and an insurance mark in the eighth to make it 3-0.

Lincoln scored its lone run in the bottom of the ninth on a Stephen Douglas sacrifice fly. The game ended with two runs in scoring position for the Saltdogs, as Nick Sarianides struck out Brian Embery to earn his ninth save.

Stephen Bougher (2-4) handled himself well in defeat, allowing just one run over six innings despite walking five.

Douglas’ 18-game hit streak came to an end with an 0-for-3 performance.

The Saltdogs look to avoid the sweep Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Matt Bywater (2-3, 4.82) returns from the disabled list to face Tyler Wilson (3-3, 4.04).
