Trees are down all over the community after a severe thunderstorm with 70 mph winds blew through that area around 7 am. Mature trees were snapped at the base and they took down power lines all over town. Mayor Jim Ralph says city crews rushed to loaders to get the streets clear of debris. He says what they couldn’t move by machine they used muscle.
Not only did those trees damage homes and vehicles but they also downed power lines. Omaha Public Power District reports 3,600 customers in their service area were without power. Crews were sent to Blair immediately but the downed trees will slow repairs.
This severe thunderstorm first blew through the city of Fremont in Dodge County. That community reported flooded streets and 1 1/2 inch hail. The storm also caused damage in Arlington and Kennard in Washington County.
