A search throughout the Lincoln area is underway after a 34-year-old woman fled from the custody of a Lancaster County corrections officer very early this morning.
Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood says Corrine Kucera was being taken to the Lancaster County jail in downtown Lincoln when she made a break for it shortly after 3am.
“She was not inside the facility at the time of her escape. She had actually been outside with a correction’s officer. She was just been transported from another facility to the downtown jail,” Flood tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KLIN.
Kucera was incarcerated for charges related to narcotics fraud.
The corrections officer was not injured during her escape.
Flood describes Kucera as 5’2″, 109 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a red scrub suit with v neck top and matching pants. She was not wearing restraints.
Flood says the search for Kucera begin immediately after she escaped.
“Immediately after her escape, a dog track was conducted, but that was not successful. Investigators have been contacting her past acquaintances and also checked addresses she has been known to frequent in the past,” according to Flood.
Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department.
