There is an opportunity to get rid of old and unwanted tires on Friday, August 9th. Deb Ward with or the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District and says many people have them stockpiled on their farm or in their garage and don’t know how to get rid of them.
Tires of all sizes can be dropped off between 8 and noon at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Arlington. There is a 100 tire per vehicle limit and they must be off the rim. There will be limited assistance on the fair grounds so those dropping off tires should bring their own manpower to unload them.
Ward says their goal is to prevent dumping or tire burning. The rubber will be used to make playground equipment, playground mats and park benches.
