A young illegal immigrant accused in the brutal rape and death of a 93-year-old Omaha woman will face the death penalty.
Douglas County prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty in the first-degree murder trial of 19-year-old Sergio Martinez-Perez, because of the heinous nature of the crime.
Martinez-Perez is accused of entering the home of Louise Sollowin on July 21st, raping and beating her.
Sollowin died of her injuries four days later.
An autopsy report disclosed Sollowin died of blunt force trauma. A judge in Douglas County denied bail in the case.
Sollowin’s daughter found Martinez-Perez asleep on top of Sollowin and called police.
