Defensive coordinator John Papuchis said theHuskers will have to deal with Wyoming junior quarterback Brett Smith who ranked among the top-25 quarterbacks in the NCAA in four different categories as a sophomore last season. The Huskers played him when he was a freshman and Papuchis was impressed then.
Plus, Papuchis needs to replace two starting safeties and said three players in particular with see a lot of playing time, but stopped short of naming a starter.
It looks like the starting job is cleared up at the tight end position. Jake Long is healthy and coach Barney Cotton says Long is ready to go.
