The former top cop of a western Nebraska town is headed to prison.
The ex-police chief in Hemingford was sentenced on Wednesday to between 20-and-24 years behind bars on charges he had a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.
Mark Lindburg is 53. He was convicted of attempted first-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class 2 felony.
In a written statement, Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning said: “This man engaged in sexual relations with an underage girl while on duty. (The) sentence ensures he is held accountable for his reprehensible crime.”
Last month, Lindburg pleaded no contest to the charge in Box Butte County District Court.
