A “call to action” by President Obama regarding U-S military intervention in Syria and he is requesting authorization from Congress before ordering strikes. Nebraska 2nd District Congressman Lee Terry says supporters of the strike still haven’t convinced him it is necessary because it could force the hand of Russia, Iran and others.
He says it is likely that Russia would then get involved in some form. His main concern is with Iran would start firing missiles into Israel and if that happens it would be the start of World War III.
Congressman Terry says we must ask if a military action against Syria is best for our national security. He says Syrian President Bashar Assad is an enemy of the United States and unfortunately the people fighting them are the same people the U-S has been fighting for the past eleven years so he doesn’t know where it is our national security interest to get involved. He says even though the assumed actions committed by Assad are considered horrible this is likely a decision that should be decided by the World Court or the U-N.
He believes most of his Republican colleagues have the same view.
