We are learning more about the man accused of commiting four murders in 10 days in Omaha last month. Nikko Jenkins was released from prison on July 30th after serving nine years for robbery. Thirteen days later authorities say Jenkins killed Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz and Juan Uribe-Pena. They say on August 19th he killed Curtis Bradford, a man Jenkins had met in prison and two days later targeted Andrea Kruger.
Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning says Jenkins is one of the most dangerous men he has encountered. He says Jenkins was not a suspect when Kruger was murdered but with the help of tips to Crime Stoppers, ballistic tests and technology eveidence pointed them in the directon of Jenkins. He says they were heavily investigating another “party of suspects” after Kruger was killed but their stories checked out and no charges were filed. Law enforcement arrested Jenkins on a warrant for making terroristic threats so he was behind bars as they investigated is part in the killing spree. Those pieces fell together and now Jenkins faces four counts of first degree murder among other charges.
Several members of Jenkins family were also arrested after the man was taken into custody. His sister Erica Jenkins is accused of criminal mischief. Melonie Jenkins is behing held on $250,000 bail for two counts of witness tampering. Lori Jenkins, mother of Nikko, Melonie and Erica is being held on $150,000 bond for one count of witness tampering. Prosecutors say Lori and Melonie Jenkins are accused of threatening the woman who reported the terroristic threats made by Nikko Jenkins.
Sheriff Dunning says Jenkins did not act alone and there will be more arrests.
