The 23rd ranked Huskers are getting ready for their showdown with 16th rank UCLA. It’s a rematch of last year’s 36-30 loss in Pasadena that offensive coordinator Tim Beck says, the Huskers let get away.
Brett Maher’s 54 yard field goal at the half tied the game at 24. Each team traded field goals in the third quarter as the game went from a track meet to a defensive struggle.
The turning point came almost midway through the fourth. Starting at his own five, Taylor Martinez was dropped for a safety. After the safety, Martinez went 0 for 4 passing, then had his fifth attempt picked off and returned to the 16 where UCLA scored, making it a 36-27 game.
Beck mentioned that he wants the offense to do the little things right, and not make a big deal out of the top 25 matchup.
