It was 12 years ago today that terrorists targeted Americans in New York, at the Pentagon and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. There are many observances across the country today and this evening the Bellevue, Nebraska Kiwanis Club will hold a ceremony at the American Heroes Park.
Organizer Bill O’Donnell says they will pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives since 9/11 to protect our country and freedom. The ceremony includes a roll call of those in Nebraska and western Iowa who have died in the line of duty, an event that O’Donnell says impacts him and others.
There ceremony will start at 6 pm and is open to the public.
