A warning about a group of door-to-door magazine salespersons representing the company Opportunity Inc. Bridget Fitzpatrick is a crime prevention specialist with the Omaha Police Department and says they are getting call after call from residents about the sales tactics of their representatives.
Fitzpatrick says the complaints range from rude and aggressive tactics to being belligerent to those answering the door. They are also making persistent and repeat visits to the same homes. Two of their representatives have been arrested.
Opportunity Inc. does not apply for a license to sell door-to-door in Omaha. Fitzpatrick says if anyone knocks on your door selling magazines or any other item to first ask for their permit. If they can not provide one tell them you are not interested and close the door. If they are persistent, rude or threatening call 911 immediately.
Businesses like this spend only a certain amount of time in a community before packing up and traveling elsewhere. All communities in Nebraska should know they could be heading your way.
