Nine Nebraska and Iowa American Red Cross volunteers left early this morning and are heading to Colorado to help flood victims. Nebraska – Western Iowa Region spokesperson Liz Dorland says they will be assisting in one of seven shelters currently up and running.
Dorland says they will help flood victims by providing them with a warm place to stay, a hot meal and with emotional support. As of 9:00 a.m. Saturday, 541 people impacted by the flood stayed in a Red Cross Shelter.
More than 1,000 people in Colorado are still not accounted for. Nebraska residents who are concerned about loved ones and can’t reach them can log on to “redcross.org” and click on the “safe and well” option. If their loved one is registered those searching will be able to see their message.
