The surge of water from the flooding in Colorado is now impacting those along the South Platte River in Nebraska. Drivers can not get off I-80 at the Big Springs exit as it is closed to traffic. Nebraska U-S Senator Mike Johanns has been in contact with NEMA and other agencies and is monitoring the situation.
Senator Johanns says he has talked with county emergency managers in western Nebraska and is constantly impressed with the work that is being done. He says these managers are very capable of handling the issues they are facing.
The chance of flooding will continue over the next few days along the South Platte and eventually the Platte River to the east.
