Today is the first national Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day. Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer says young Jack Hoffman of Atkinson was the inspiration behind her resolution.
“In April, I introduced a bipartisan resolution designating this day, hoping it would bring increased awareness to the unique challenges faced by children with this horrible disease,” Fischer says. “It’s also a chance to educate families and encourage others to get involved.”
The YouTube video of Jack’s appearance at Memorial Stadium has gotten hundreds of thousands of hits.
“His brave spirit, his positive outlook at such a young age make him a hero to everyone,” Fischer says. “We also admire his commitment to helping other who face similar challenges”
Some Nebraska Radio Network stations are conducting a day-long radiothon today to raise awareness and money for the Team Jack Foundation, funding research for pediatric brain cancer.
