Omaha police continue to search for suspects in a Saturday night shooting. 28 year old Lafayette Carodine told police he was driving in his SUV at 144th and West Maple Road when he noticed a car tailgating him. He says right after he made a turn the dark colored Impala pulled up along side his vehicle and someone inside opened fire. Carodine was hit by gunfire but made it several blocks before he crashed his vehicle. He got out and started walking but soon collapsed.
Carodine’s two young children were inside the vehicle and witnesses ran to the SUV to help. The children were not hurt and taken to a nearby gas station for safety and then the witnesses called police.
Carodine was critically injured and remains hospitalized.
