A Franklin man has been sentenced to 109 years in prison for beating his two-year-old grandson to death.
The Attorney General’s office reports 48-year-old Peter Draper received 60 years to life for one count of committing intentional child abuse resulting in death and up to 50 years in prison for one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
Two-year-old Joseph Rinehart was pronounced dead after his mother Laura Rinehart and grandmother Nancy Draper took him to Franklin County Memorial Hospital on April 30th of last year. An autopsy concluded Reinhart died of multiple blunt force traumas. It found bruises to his body and fractures to the skull, pelvis and ribs.
A sibling told authorities Peter Draper hit Joseph in the stomach and knocked him to the ground. The investigation uncovered earlier incidents of child abuse by Peter Draper.
Both the mother and grandmother were charged in the case earlier.
In August, Rinehart was sentenced 12 to 22 years in prison for one count of attempted child abuse resulting in death. Nancy Draper was sentenced 20 to 30 years for one count of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
