Irvington fire crews rushed to the Woodbridge Senior Living Center in north central Omaha at 7 this morning after fire broke out in one resident’s apartment. Assistant Fire Chief Kyle Tonnies says that resident suffered minor burns and smoke inhalation and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Tonnies says the automatic sprinklers had activated and all the other residents made it out safely. He says they conducted a fire drill at the facility last summer and that contributed to the safe evacuation and no other injuries.
The fire was contained to one third floor unit. There is extensive smoke and water damage. The Nebraska State Fire Marshal will investigate the cause.
