State Senator Pete Pirsch has announced he will run for State Auditor.
The current Auditor, Mike Foley, has announced he will run as a Republican for governor.
Pirsch, also a Republican, says he would take a proactive role with the state’s agencies, departments and political subdivisions.
“It’s easier and better for everyone if we can on the front-end kind of approach, educate the state agencies and departments so that they are efficient and that they are accountable and that they’re spending the taxpayers’ money in the way in which they are supposed to,” Pirsch tells Nebraska Radio Network affiliate WJAG during a stop in Norfolk.
Pirsch served as Omaha city prosecutor before being elected to the Unicameral, where he has served two terms. He must leave the Unicameral due to term limits.
