Husker I-back Ameer Abdullah did not practice yesterday, but should play Saturday, according to offensive coordinator Tim Beck. Abdullah is 19 yards shy of 1,000 on the season. The junior is averaging 7.4 yards per carry, which is almost two and a half yards more than he did in his 1,137-yard effort a season ago.
As far as the status of senior quarterback Taylor Martinez. Coach Beck say Tommy Armstrong and Ron Kellogg are both ready to step up if needed. Injuries have been a problem for Nebraska this season. In addition to seeing limited playing time from Martinez, the Huskers lost senior offensive lineman Spencer Long for the season against Purdue. Beck talked about the impact Long’s absence has had on the squad.
