October was not a good month for the Mid-America Business Conditions Index that includes Nebraska, Iowa and seven other states in the region. That index dropped to 50 which Creighton University economist Ernie Goss says is growth neutral. That is a nearly a five point drop from September of this year.
Goss says the jobs index moved below growth neutral in the region in October. He says we lost jobs in manufacturing and value added services. The agriculture and export sector also saw a decline. He is predicting a significant pull back in job growth in the months ahead for the overall economy.
