It was two weeks ago today that Nebraska Korean War veterans boarded a plane in Omaha and spent the day in Washington DC to view the monuments and memorials. Honor Flight organizer Bill Williams was already planning the next flight and funding when his phone rang from an anonymous donor with a pledge of $90,000 to get that plane off the ground.
Williams immediately started working on a plan to get more Korean War veterans to Washington and charter two planes when his phone rang again. That is when the Hubbard Family Foundation immediately stepped up and donated the $200,000.
Williams says more than 300 Nebraska Korean War veterans will now be able to take part in the next Honor Flight “air lift” in April.
