Elkhorn State Senator Beau McCoy is striking back against a White House news conference on Wednesday calling on Nebraska to expand Medicaid coverage in the state. Senator McCoy says, “the White House cannot “bully” Nebraska.”
Senator McCoy says Nebraska could face hundreds-of-millions of dollars in costs with this big government program which could result in severe cuts in severe cuts to other programs and dramatically increase property taxes.
Senator McCoy says he attended meetings in Washington DC last week as part of his role on the Federalism Task Force of the Council of State Governments and he says their message was clear and they don’t care about the states governing themselves. He says they have the attitude that “one size fits all” and that isn’t good enough for Nebraska.
