The state unemployment rate has dropped below 4%.
The preliminary unemployment rate for October as announced by the Nebraska Department of Labor stood at 3.9%, seasonally adjusted, a drop of .2% from the September unemployment rate of 4.1%.
The unemployment rate in the Omaha area last month was 3.8%, down from 4% the month before. The Lincoln area unemployment rate is 3.1%, down from 3.2%.
The October unemployment rate is unchanged from the October rate of last year.
Non-farm employment in Nebraska increased 4,561 jobs from September to October to 981,281. For the year, non-farm employment is up 11,312.
Job growth last month primarily occurred in trade, transportation and utilities; education and health services; and other services.
The state unemployment rate is well below the national unemployment rate of 7.3%.
