Accused killer Nikko Jenkins will head back to the Lincoln Regional Center where he will undergo an evaluation to determine if he is competent to stand trial. Douglas County Public Defender Tom Riley says that Jenkins was evaluated by Dr. Bruce Gutnik who determined he is not competent to stand trial. Riley predicts in court that Dr. Gutnik will testify that Jenkins is incompetent to stand trial but the evaluation in Lincoln will determine he is. He says that is when the judge will have to make a decision
In recent letters written by Jenkins and sent to several media outlets he states he is ready to plead guilty to the murders of four people in a ten day period last August. He originally entered a not guilty plea. No further action can be taken until he is evaluated.
