Creighton wrapped up an eight-day trip to the west coast with a 78-61 win over Long Beach State on Tuesday night. Creighton improved to 6-2 with the victory.
Creighton’s long-range shooting was the difference during the first half, as CU hit 10-of-17 from beyond the three-point stripe in the first half to build a 48-28 lead at the break. McDermott had 11 points, while Isaiah Zierden and Ethan Wragge, making his first start under coach Greg McDermott, both scored nine points.
Creighton opened the second half on an 11-2 run as the lead grew to 59-32, thanks to four points by McDermott and consecutive three-ball’s from Wragge.
McDermott led all scorers with 22 points on the night, while Wragge had 15. Creighton is home for the next month, starting with Sunday’s 5:07 pm game vs. Nebraska.
