Thousands of candles will be lit worldwide on Sunday. Sandra Massie is with the Compassionate Friends Organization and is organizing Sunday’s event in Omaha.
Massie says this is the 17th year the vigil has been held. It will start at 7 pm in each time zone around the world. More than 30 countries are taking part and their goal is to have a 24 hour wave of candle light to remember those lost.
Candles are lit to honor the memory of children. In Omaha participants are asked to gather at 6:30 at the Kroc Centro at 28th and Y Streets. The public is invited.
