A 45-year-old Wyoming man has been charged with Driving Under the Influence in a crash this weekend that took the life of a western Nebraska woman and left another with life-threatening injuries.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports Edward Hood was taken to the Garden County Jail after being treated at the Garden County Hospital for injuries suffered in the wreck.
According to NSP, Hood was driving eastbound on Highway 26 west of Oshkosh Saturday afternoon when he lost control of his car, crossed the center line of the highway, and struck a westbound car driven by 62-year-old Terry Hofer of Ogallala. Hofer died in the crash. The passenger in her car, 62-year-old Claudia Weinbender of Dix, was flown by medical hospital to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, where she is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
Hood also is wanted on an outstanding warrant from Florida for Failure to Appear on a Charge of DUI.
