Santa Claus brought some early holiday cheer to young patients who are spending the holiday season at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Santa and elves, who were really U-S Marines, dropped by to hand out toys and to visit the young patients.
Phillip Thompson’s five year old daughter has had three transplants and says Wednesday’s visit helped put a smile on her face. Gunnery Sergeant Jack Crews says all the work collecting and sorting the toys collected is worth every minute. He says you really see the reward in a child’s face.
The U-S Marines collected about 60,000 toys this year for children in Nebraska and western Iowa.
