Bloomsburg (Pa.) University senior running back Franklyn Quiteh won the Harlon Hill Trophy Friday as the 2013 Division II College Football Player of the Year. Quiteh, a three-time Hill Trophy Finalist, received 182 total points and held a 36-point margin over West Texas A&M University quarterback Dustin Vaughan. Henderson State (Ark.) University junior quarterback Kevin Rodgers was third with 100 points.
Following Quiteh, Vaughan and Rodgers in the voting were senior quarterback Bo Cordell of Tusculum (57), senior running back Rondell White of West Chester (56), senior quarterback Jon Wolf of Minnesota State-Mankato (35), senior running back Glen Clinton of Chadron State (17), senior running back Tyler Tonderum of Southwest Minnesota State (13) and senior quarterback Luke Charles from UNC Pembroke (12).
The Hill Trophy is named for a former University of North Alabama player – the late Harlon Hill – who was a standout with the Lions from 1950-53 before going on to fame in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears.
