Attorney General Jon Bruning says he will run for re-election, not seek higher office.
“I love being Attorney General. I love the people I work with. I love the job we do. I love prosecuting bad guys. I mean, it’s a good fit. Hopefully, Nebraskans think I’m doing a good job,” Bruning tells Kevin Thomas, host of Drive Time Lincoln on Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KLIN.
Bruning, a Republican, was first elected Attorney General in 2002. He won re-election in 2006 and 2010 without opposition.
Bruning lost in the Republican primary for United States Senate in 2012 to eventual winner, Deb Fischer.
Bruning recently underwent successful colon cancer surgery. He returned to work earlier that most expected.
“So, I’m just full steam ahead. I couldn’t stay out of the office. I love what we’re doing too much and we’ve got a great team.”
No other candidate has announced any intention to run for Attorney General in 2014.
