Creighton Prep, an Omaha Catholic High School will implement mandatory drug and alcohol testing for all students starting this fall. Creighton Prep President Michael Giambulluca says this taking their health and wellness program one step further.
Currently only students involved in athletes are required to take random tests. Starting in August students will be required to give hair samples that will be tested for alcohol and a variety of drugs. If the test comes back positive the student will be provide counseling. If the second test comes back positive the student will face disciplinary action and a positive third test is suspension.
Giambulluca says 80 to 100% of their student population will be tested every year.
