He is the original Batman to an older generation; the mayor on “Family Guy” to the current one.
Adam West is paying Nebraska a visit, appearing at the Nebraska Bookstore off the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus and discussing his acting career at the Rococo Theatre.
West says that while the Batman television series was a stable for the 1960’s, re-runs have kept it alive even for today’s college students.
“You know what happens with that? And I’ve done a number of universities. It’s usually about 50-50,” West tells Jack and Dave in the Morning on Nebraska Radio Network affiliate KLIN. “It’s amazing, because our Batman has been around so long. Most kids grow up with it.”
Now, West takes a different tact on his role as mayor on the animated comedy, “Family Guy.” West says he has never been cast in a comedy role.
“Well, nobody has, ever. And that’s why I did serious roles; the westerns, detectives and so on for a long time,” West says. “And then, suddenly, they discovered I was funny. But, I’m not funny.”
