Pets are a very important part of many families and the American Red Cross has developed a lifesaving tool for all animal owners. It is called the “Pet First Aid App” and is provides information on many emergency care situations.
Liz Dorland with the Nebraska – Southwest Iowa Region of the American Red Cross says nearly half of all dog and cat owners considers them a part of the family so including them in emergency health care plan is very important.
The app provides step by step instructions, videos and images for more than 25 situations that include how to treat wounds, control bleeding and CPR techniques. The app also features a pet profile for medications, a click-and-call feature direct to your veterinarian, a list of pet friendly hotels and emergency pet care facilities.
The app is available on all smart phones and the cost is 99-cents.
