On Monday evening in front of a sellout crowd of 15,342 at Pinnacle Bank Arena, Nebraska snapped a five-game losing streak and handed Tim Miles his first win over a ranked opponent, as the Huskers topped No. 17 Ohio State, 68-62.
The win also snapped a five-game losing streak. After building a big lead, the Huskers responded to a surge from Ohio State before grabbing control of the game.
NU let a 14-point first half lead slip away when the Buckeyes outscored the Huskers 18-2 in a seven-minute window to take a 38-36 lead. Later, trailing 46-45, Deverell Biggs stripped OSU point guard Aaron Craft of the ball, scoring a layup and putting the Huskers up for good.
Nebraska led 51-49 with 2:08 left, but Terrance Petteway led the Huskers on a 10-2 run, scoring six points as Nebraska pushed the lead to 61-51 after a pair of free throws from David Rivers with 1:02 left.
Shavon Shields led NU with 19 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Terran Petteway had 18 points, including 13 in the second half, and Biggs came off the bench with 11 points, four points and three assists.
