Unemployment in Nebraska dropped slightly to 3.6% in December, according to the state Department of Labor.
The department reports the November unemployment rate was 3.7%. The December unemployment rate from 2012 was 3.8%.
Nonfarm employment in Nebraska grew by 10,066 in 2013. In the month of December, three industries showed the largest employment gains: trade, transportation, and utilities; professional and business services; and other services.
The country’s unemployment rate in December rested at 6.7%, down three-tenths of a percent. The unemployment rate a year ago was 7.9%.
While the state unemployment rate dropped slightly, the unemployment rates in Omaha and Lincoln rose slightly. The Department of Labor reports unemployment in Omaha rose from 3.6% in November to 3.9% in December. In Lincoln, the unemployment rate rose from 2.9% in November to 3.1% in December.
